September 29th is National Coffee Day, so I hope you enjoyed a good ol’ cup of joe! Whether hot or cold, coffee is delicious and a great way to start a productive day. I am also a believer that coffee needs to be paired with food, whether sweet or savory, to bring out its wonderful complex flavors. I want to highlight an especially wonderful coffee I had recently at Corey’s Bagels. I went to the Algonquin location off of Randall Road and had some incredible iced coffee and one of the best bagels I’ve ever had. They make their own homemade bagels, flavored cream cheeses and coffee that they brew daily. When I visited for the first time, I ordered a Garlic Herb Bagel with Chive Cream Cheese and an Iced Latte with Almond Milk. I personally prefer a lighter roast on my coffee and this latte had a lovely ratio of creamy milk and coffee aroma. They even come with these adorable heart shaped straws, which made me smile as I drank the coffee in my car. The bagel was the perfect savory compliment to my sweet latte. As a lover of garlic and savory flavors, this was truly heaven. I highly suggest not getting this bagel on a date, but if you want to treat yourself to a hardy breakfast, I highly recommend Corey’s. I look forward to visiting again to grab another latte and try one of their breakfast sandwiches!
