Even though my day is filled with not the tastiest eating (or drinking), I found it important to talk about this online. I am a Colon Cancer survivor and will most likely need to get yearly colonoscopies for the rest of my life to ensure I am still cancer free. With the prep, you are on a strict diet the day before the procedure and you have to drink certain liquids that clear out the colon. Is it gross tasting? Yes. Is the process uncomfortable? Absolutely! Am I thankful to be doing this procedure? 1000% yes! I will sacrifice a yearly Colonoscopy over having another long fight with cancer. As Colon Cancer is on the rise, especially in younger people, I feel it is important to discuss the importance of taking care of yourself. Eating a variety of fibrous foods helps prevent Colon Cancer. Also, if you EVER show any serious symptoms relating to GI or bowel movements, go see a doctor as soon as possible. I am thankful I advocated for myself and went to the doctor when I did, because I fear what could have happened if I tried to push off getting further testing to determine what was happening to my body. Tonight will be a tough night, but it will be worth it tomorrow once I hopefully get positive results from my colonoscopy and can enjoy some real food tomorrow for lunch!
