So, I have a secret that I have to share with the world. I have never successfully made my own sourdough bread. I know, I have a food blog, but haven’t mastered sourdough yet. I unfortunately didn’t get on the sourdough train in March of 2020, as many did. I am doing the ‘I’m in my late 20’s and need something new stage’, which instead of running a marathon or moving abroad, I am deciding to tackle mastering homemade sourdough. Over a month ago, I actually tried making my own starter with a kit and attempted my first sourdough loaf. Unfortunately, the starter was not the right consistency and what came out of the oven after multiple hours of work was a large, hard, flat cracker resembling bread. I laughed it off and promised myself that I would not give up. This is now my second sourdough starter, which I used a different starter recipe and have been watching multiple sourdough videos for research. I also bought some tools to assist in making my next loaf better, which include a bamboo basket, basket liner, sourdough whisk and a packet of sourdough starter. I hope this starter works better than the last, but I have the packet of sourdough starter if all else fails. To my sourdough peeps, I desperately want to be a Sourdough Girlie, so any tips and tricks you can share with me are great appreciated!
