Tonight, I went up to Lake Geneva to spend the night with my mom. We met up with her best friend, Carolyn, and we went to one of our favorite restaurants in the area. Cafe Calamari is an Italian restaurant in Williams Bay, with a lovely view of the lake. We started at the bar with some tasty cocktails and mocktails. Then, we had a lovely Burrata appetizer that is served with pomodoro sauce, pesto, balsamic glaze and focaccia crostini. The creamy sauce, bright pesto and the tang from the balsamic glaze were a wonderful accompaniment to the rich burrata cheese. We shared two entrees between the three of us, which we had picked the Lasagna and the Shrimp de Jonghe special. The lasagna was everything you’d want in a great lasagna, which was flavorful sauce, creamy, cheesy filling and perfectly cooked noodles. The Shrimp de Jonghe had butterflied shrimp that were baked in the oven, covered with an herbed breadcrumb topping, and served over cappellini pasta. The shrimp were expertly cooked, and the breadcrumb topping truly elevated the dish. Sharing everything Family Style was a fun way to enjoy each plate. We left dinner extremely full and happy from a wonderful night out!
