Zach and I were craving Indian Food tonight, so I made Butter Tofu for the first time! I found a couple of recipes online and created my own version based off the recipes. I fried tofu in a pan, which I have mastered from cooking Tofu Pad Thai. Once the tofu is sautéed until brown and crispy, I put the tofu aside while creating the sauce. I build the sauce by sautéing onions, garlic, ginger, tomato paste, fresh tomatoes and spices in a pan. Once softened and combined, I blended the mixture with an immersion blender until smooth. Let the sauce simmer for at least 30 minutes to let all the flavors develop. I also cooked some rice and heated up some naan to accompany the Butter Tofu. The creamy sauce developed wonderful flavor from the garam masala spice, which created sweet, earthy notes to the savory sauce. For my first time making this dish, I developed wonderful flavors, but there wasn’t a lot of heat. I plan on adding more spicy flavors the next time I make this. For my first time making Butter Tofu, I was pleased with the dish and I got a huge thumbs up from Zach!
