Tonight, Zach and I made some dishes in preparation for Friendsgiving! We are hosting this year for Friendsgiving, so we have to make sure our dishes are up to par. Zach and I made this delicious Homemade Mac and Cheese with an herbed breadcrumb topping. We started with boiling the pasta, straining, and tossing in olive oil. Then we started on the roux for the cheese sauce, which includes butter and flour. Once the roux has been whisked together and becomes a light brown color, slowly add in the milk and cream. Once the milk is incorporated and the sauce is thickened, add your shredded cheeses and spices until everything melts together. One tip is to turn the fire off and slowly whisk in the cheese to create a velvety sauce. Once the sauce is finished, add the pasta and mix together. Then, butter a 9 by 13 pan and start with half of the Mac and Cheese mixture. Sprinkle shredded cheeses on top of the first layer, and then add the remaining Mac and Cheese. Everything gets topped off with a breadcrumb topping that combines breadcrumbs, melted butter and spices. Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes until bubbly and crispy. The gooey cheese sauce, the bite of the al dente noodles and the added crunch from the topping make this an exceptional Homemade Mac and Cheese that will impress your family this Holiday Season!
